How turbulence forecasts work

Our forecasts combine historical PIREP data (pilot reports), SIGMET weather alerts, and seasonal patterns for each route. Turbulence score 1–5 is light, 6–8 moderate, 9–12 severe. Mountain routes over the Andes or Rockies are consistently the most turbulent. Transatlantic flights cross the jet stream — roughest in winter over the North Atlantic. Browse all 1989 routes →
